WIP Wednesday: 3/5/14

I haven't had a lot of things going on in terms of sewing for the last little while because I've been so busy with work and school. But, after writing a couple of big papers, I needed a bit of fabric therapy. One of my quilt goals I set for the year was to use my Anna Maria Horner True Colors fabrics to make a value quilt. I used my Accuquilt Go Baby cutter and my parallelogram die and set to work on this:

I used two fat-eighth bundles and some Kona white for the top chevrons. I want the quilt a bit wider, but I don't have enough fabric to cut out more parallelograms. My leftover fabric pieces are triangles so I've been toying with the idea of adding a border of flying geese, but I'm still thinking about it. Next week is my spring break, so hopefully, I can get more work done on it.

I think a border of flying geese would look great! Maybe put a very slim border of white on the sides, to kind of "match" the top and bottom then the geese border. I think that would look so cool.

Love it. Such great color and the zigzag is awesome. Can't wait to see what you decide to do with it.

Arranging the colors from corner to corner was an effective decision. I think I'd match the border triangles to the color it is next to in the quilt. You might lay out a dog ears border on one side and the flying geese on the other and see which you like best.Good luck.

This is beautiful. It really makes me want to invest in an accuquilt cutter.

Wow Brooke! I absolutely love it. I think you've inspired me to buy some of that fabric when I come home this summer. :)
